Two cats laying in and next to garbage. An excellent metaphor for life.

Friday Roundup

On August 19th, 2016 in Quibbles

Hey y’all. Hope you’re well. I mean, you’re still circling a large incinerator on this trash planet, so you’re probably not, just thought it’d be nice to ask.

Speaking of space trash, SpaceX is getting really close to space recycling, with its sixth successful return landing. Seems like a wasted effort to me though, I don’t know why anyone would ever want to come back.

It may not be a matter of wanting to though, since we’ve already missed out climate change goal and we haven’t even started yet.

Once the international community was done making up grandiose lies, America came home and announced the end of private prisons. The ones in the purview of the Justice Department anyway. Eventually. Washington is cutting out contractors like I cut out carbs: by throwing away just the crust and calling it even.

That’s okay free speech means you can say anything you want about anything. We can thank people like Peter Thiel for defending our free speech and journalistic integrity.

I know high school was rough for us, Peter, but that’s no reason to take it out on the press.

But, Huffington Post workers shouldn’t feel too bad about the bankruptcy since the internet is almost at capacity and pretty soon we won’t be able to see any cute cat gifs, let alone read about ridiculous trials.

I for one, will not miss the internet. Just ask Wikipedia, it’s terrible for your health.

That’s what happens when you build a lair for trolls and give them free reign to abuse literally anyone they want.

NPR gets it: they’re shutting down their comments. I think we can all agree Twitter and Facebook will be much more pleasant, well moderated, places to have respectful discussions.

I’d suggest we all move back to E-MAILS but the idea of never talking to anyone ever again sounds much more preferable to me.

In fact, I’m gonna go try that right now.

Happy weekend.
